Little Steps LLC
Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: July 20, 2026
Plain-language summary: Little Steps is designed for private family use. We use account, family, photo, activity, and subscription information to operate the service. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use Health data or private family photos for advertising.
This Privacy Policy explains how Little Steps LLC ("Little Steps," "we," "us," or "our"), a Colorado limited liability company, collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you use the Little Steps mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Who may use Little Steps
The Service is intended for adults who are at least 18 years old. It is not directed to children, and children may not create accounts. Adults may add information or photographs relating to children when they have the authority and appropriate permission to do so. If we learn that a child submitted personal information directly to us through an account, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
2. Information we collect
Account and contact information
We may collect your name, display name, email address, authentication information, optional telephone number, profile image, and account role. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide an identifier, name, and email address according to your Apple settings.
Family and invitation information
We collect family names, family relationships, invitation codes and status, the names of family members or intended invitees, and information needed to connect people to the correct private Family ID. Depending on the information an adult chooses to provide, this may include a child's name, birthday or age, gender, and relationship information.
Private family content
We collect photographs, Live Photos, captions, titles, thumbnails, upload information, queue order, unlock history, and other content you choose to add. Photos are intended to be available only to authorized members of the applicable family. Other authorized family members may view, save, or otherwise interact with content according to available features and permissions.
Activity and Health information
With a loved one's permission, Little Steps reads step-count information from Apple Health to determine progress toward a walking goal and unlock family moments. We may store daily step totals, dates, goal values, activity source, synchronization time, and Health connection status. Little Steps does not write to Apple Health. We do not use Health information for advertising, marketing profiles, or sale to data brokers.
Subscription, promotion, and referral information
We may receive product identifiers, subscription status, purchase and renewal dates, transaction identifiers, trial eligibility, billing status, refunds, and cancellation information from Apple or another authorized app marketplace. We may also collect referral or promotional codes, the source of a referral, redemption history, eligibility, and complimentary-access status. Little Steps does not receive your full payment-card number when a purchase is processed by Apple.
Device, usage, and support information
We may collect device type, operating-system version, app version, language, time zone, IP address, session and security identifiers, notification preferences, feature interactions, diagnostic information, and communications you send to support. We do not currently use third-party advertising networks or cross-app tracking technologies.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and secure accounts and private family spaces;
- deliver invitations, store family content, track walking goals, and unlock moments;
- provide notifications requested by users;
- process and synchronize trials, subscriptions, referrals, complimentary access, renewals, refunds, and cancellations;
- provide support, respond to requests, and communicate service or policy changes;
- detect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and technical problems;
- maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; and
- comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Little Steps and its users.
4. How information is disclosed
We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:
- Within your family: authorized Family ID members can access information and content made available to that family.
- Service providers: vendors that provide hosting, database, authentication, storage, email, notifications, security, customer support, and technical infrastructure may process information for us under contractual restrictions. Our current infrastructure includes Supabase and services provided by Apple.
- App marketplaces: Apple or another authorized marketplace processes purchases and may exchange subscription and transaction status with us.
- Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce agreements, respond to valid legal process, prevent harm, or protect rights and security.
- Business changes: information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
- With your direction: we may disclose information when you request or consent to it.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this Policy and provide any choices required by law.
5. Photo and family privacy
Little Steps uses access controls intended to restrict family content to authorized members. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and a family member who is allowed to view a photo may be able to save, copy, photograph, or share it outside Little Steps. Only upload content you are authorized to share, and invite people you trust.
6. Data retention
We retain information while an account or family space is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service. When an authenticated account-deletion request is completed, we aim to delete or de-identify personal information from active systems within 30 days, unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, financial recordkeeping, or legal compliance. Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted or access-controlled backups until overwritten in the ordinary course.
Because a Family ID contains content and history shared among multiple adults, deleting one account may not automatically delete content that other family members are entitled to retain. We will explain available choices during the deletion process and honor applicable legal rights.
7. Your choices and privacy rights
You may update certain account details in the app, disconnect Apple Health access through Apple settings, adjust notification permissions through device settings, leave a family when that option is available, or request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of information by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity and authority over a Family ID before acting.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including rights to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of, or appeal a decision concerning personal information. Little Steps will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated access, encrypted network transport, restricted service credentials, and database and storage access controls. Security risks cannot be eliminated completely, so we encourage strong passwords, device security, and careful management of family invitations.
9. United States operations
Little Steps initially serves users in the United States. Information is processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to appropriate protections and applicable law.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service, our practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated Policy with a revised date and provide additional notice when required by law. Material changes apply prospectively from their effective date.
